Child Development Services
HELPING CHILDREN TO SUCCEED
FIREFLY Child Development services are for families with children and youth aged seven to eighteen who have been diagnosed with a developmental delay or disability or are at risk of developmental disability.
Autism
Autism services provide professional assessment, intervention, and/or treatment for children and youth under the age of 18 years, who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapists (OT) can offer many helpful options for children who are experiencing difficulty performing daily tasks.
Physiotherapy
Physiotherapist work as part of a team of professionals to analyze, assess, and treat your child’s physical abilities through crawling, rolling, walking, climbing, jumping, and more.
Speech-Language Pathology
Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP) are involved in the prevention, identification, and treatment of speech, language, hearing and swallowing disorders in partnership with caregivers, physicians, educators, and health care providers.
Canadian Prenatal and Nutrition Program
The Canada Prenatal Nutrition Program (CPNP) is a community-based program that provides support to improve the health and well-being of pregnant women, new mothers and babies facing challenging life circumstances.
Respite Care
Respite is a periodic, short-term break to relieve a family of the responsibility of daily care of a family member with a physical and/or developmental disability.
Child Development (Red Lake, Dryden, Sioux Lookout)
Child Development is a service for families with children and youth aged seven to eighteen who have been diagnosed with a developmental delay, disability, or are at risk of developmental disability.
Infant & Child Development Services
FIREFLY provides Infant and Child Development services for families with infants and children, aged 0-6, who have a developmental delay, disability, or children who may be at risk for developmental delay.
School Based Rehabilitation Services
Did you know that FIREFLY was designated to deliver School Based Rehabilitation Services (SBRS) in the Kenora and Rainy River Districts since January 1, 2019?
FIREFLY is excited to share that these services have been transferred by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services to FIREFLY on a permanent basis!
What are School Based Rehabilitation Services (SBRS)?
Speech-Language therapy, physiotherapy and occupational therapy services that are provided in schools.
Does this mean there will be changes to my child’s services?
Not at this time. FIREFLY is looking forward to continuing to provide high quality services to students across the district. As with all our programs, FIREFLY will seek to continuously improve our services to ensure we are meeting the needs of students, families and schools within the fixed funding we receive.
