In this section, unless specifically referred to otherwise, either capable youth or caregiver(s) of incapable clients will be referred to as “clients”.
Client Rights
Voluntary Participation – Services are provided voluntarily. FIREFLY will only offer services if you agree to participate; no one can be forced to receive services.
Confidential Services for Capable Youth – Clients deemed capable youth have the right to confidential services without the need for parental knowledge or consent including counselling.
Active Involvement in Service Planning – Clients have the right to be actively involved in their service planning.
Role as Lead – Clients receiving multiple services or involved with more than one agency, have the right to act as the “lead case manager”, directing the case management process.
Right to Complain – Clients have the right to file complaints to FIREFLY. See next page for more information.
Informed Decisions – Clients have the right to be fully informed about the available treatment or service options, including the potential benefits and risks, to make well-informed decisions.
Right to Terminate Services – Clients have the right to end services at any time.
Client Responsibilities
Attendance – Clients are responsible for regularly attending scheduled appointments. If you are unable to attend an appointment, you must contact FIREFLY as soon as possible to cancel and reschedule.
Adherence to Service Plan – Clients are expected to fulfill the responsibilities agreed upon in their Service Plan.
