FIREFLY Announces New CEO

After a comprehensive search that included highly qualified candidates across the province of Ontario, the Board of Directors for FIREFLY is pleased to announce the appointment of Darcia Curtis as the incoming Chief Executive Officer, effective June 28, 2025.

Darcia will assume the role of CEO Designate beginning May 1, 2025, and will focus on working with Karen Ingebrigtson for a smooth transition culminating in the full assumption of duties as Chief Executive Officer on June 28, 2025.

Darcia brings a wealth of expertise in strategic planning, operational excellence, and community partnerships.  Having been a dedicated member of the FIREFLY team for the past six years, first serving as Partnership and Community Manager before transitioning to the role of Director of Service Excellence and & Partnerships, where she has driven impactful initiatives to enhance service delivery and community engagement. Darcia holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, a Bachelor of Education degree focusing in Aboriginal Education and a Master of Arts Degree in Organizational Development.

Darcia will succeed Karen Ingebrigtson, who has served as Chief Executive Officer for FIREFLY since 2008.
