The physician for the Pediatric Clinic is a general pediatrician. A general pediatrician is a licensed specialist, who specializes in the care of children of all ages, from infants to young adults.
Referrals are accepted from Physicians and/or Nurse Practitioners for the following areas of concern:
Travel to Kenora for the initial in-person appointment is required, follow-up appointments may be offered via telephone or virtual service as determined by the Pediatrician. The Northern Travel grant is available for those required to travel more then 100km one-way road distance.
Your child’s episode of care will be brief in nature and will address the specific query presented. Families will be offered an initial in-person appointment, with at least one follow-up appointment.
A report will be shared with the referring provider following appointments. Families are encouraged to meet with their family physician/nurse practitioner to discuss the recommended follow-up and next steps as provided by the Pediatrician.
Your family health care provider and the pediatrician fall under the circle of care. The circle of care is described as a group of health care providers and staff who need the patient’s personal health information to provide or assist in providing health care. The sharing of medical information (lab work, imaging, etc.), family history, and other pertinent information may be requested by the Pediatrician.
